Rubber trees mature in 6 to 7 years and are ready to be tapped. The main crop from a rubber plantation is latex, a milky white dispersion of rubber in water, which is harvested by the tapping process. The processing of latex into rubber involves the mixing of a creaming agent, sheet making, drying, smoking and bundling.

Timber Trees

Nandi, Matthi, Mahogany, jack fruit, Rosewood, and Teakwood are some of the timber trees cultivated in the Vanadurgi estate. In general, these trees are also grown to support the Pepper. Mahogany is a fast-growing timber tree, ready for harvest in around 20 years. Rosewood and Teakwood grow very slowly and are ready to harvest only after 25 years.
